Required documentation for Admission
Examples of the Originating Motion and supporting affidavit can be
found on the NT Supreme Court website.
Please note: A back page must be attached to each document filled. This page
should have corresponding details of the document and face the outside so that
if the document is turned over the details will still be clearly seen.
Students must prepare five (5) copies each of the Originating Motion and
supporting affidavit (ie 1 original and 4 copies) – 3 copies for the court, one
to be served on the Law Society, and one for their own records.
Each student should annex to their affidavits:
Certified copies or originals of the following documents:
1. their degree (if they have it, not essential);
2. their academic record;
3. a letter from the Dean or other proper officer of their Law School certifying
that the course completed complies with the requirements of Rule 4 of the Legal
Profession Admission rules (Priestley 11); and
4. a letter from the ANU certifying compliance with Rule 5 of the Legal
Profession Admission rules (Priestly 12).
Originals of the following documents:
5. 2 Certificates of Good Fame and Character (see rule 3 of the Legal Profession
Admission rules). The certificate should not be provided by a fellow student.
6. A police report.
