The Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (Cth) requires
international students on student visas to engage in most of their study full
time by attending classes on campus.
As the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice
(GDLP) is only offered online, Legal Workshop is unable to accept foreign
students on student visas into the program. The Act does not apply to
international students who do not have a student visa for study in Australia.
That is, foreign students who are based overseas while studying, or those who
are based in Australia on another type of visa, remain eligible for the GDLP
program.
International students who are enrolled on a full-time basis in another
course at the ANU or another university in Australia, meeting the requirements
for a student visa, may enrol concurrently in the GDLP. However, if these
students finish their other course prior to completing their GDLP they will be
required to obtain another visa in order to stay in Australia, or to complete
their GDLP overseas.
Students who are studying only the GDLP are ineligible for a student visa.
