7-8 February 2008 Research Workshop for Early to Mid Career Australian Criminal Law Scholars

Attendance by invitation only.
This workshop, which is planned to be an annual event, provides an informal and supportive environment in which younger scholars can present their work and interact with other younger scholars. Senior scholars are invited to take part as mentors. The mentors at the 2008 workshop will be Professor Simon Bronitt (ANU), Professor Ngaire Naffine (Adelaide) and Professor Andrew Simester (Cambridge and Singapore). The 2009 workshop will focus on family law.

Public Lecture: Modernising Reproduction by
Baroness Ruth Deech

AUDIO

This year sees the 30th anniversary of the birth of the world's first IVF baby, Louise Brown.  The techniques of IVF have grown to emcompass fertility in old age, saviour siblings, elimination of inherited disease and now saving lives through stem cell therapy.  Ruth Deech will look at the ethical concerns, recent developments in the science and how the law has regulated and kept up with them

Colloquium: The Hart-Fuller Debate 50 Years On
(Invitation Only Event)

This international conference will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publication of the famous debate between Herbert Hart and Lon Fuller in the Harvard Law Review in 1958. Details will be made available later in the year.
