Frequently Asked Questions

Nominees

I have been nominated for a College Education Award, what do I do now?
All nominees need to provide a summative ‘Education Portfolio’. This will provide a basis for assessment of your achievements.

Your Education Portfolio needs to include:
     • a written statement addressing the Selection Criteria (1-2 Pages)
     • a Curriculum Vitae (1-2 pages)
     • an optional reference from someone able to comment against the selection criteria
     • CEDAM ANUset Evaluation summary pages (or other forms of evaluation developed in the course of teaching).

You will be notified of a College workshop to assist in the creation of your portfolio prior to applications closing.

Can I know who nominated me for the Award? How do I find out?
Nominators are able to request that they remain anonymous. CEIST staff will be happy to let you know in cases where your nominator has not elected to remain anonymous. Please send a request to ceist@law.anu.edu.au

When do I need to submit my portfolio?
All applications should be submitted electronically to CEIST by 9am Friday 2nd October 2009.

What criteria should I address when developing my portfolio?
Selection Criteria for the Education Awards can be found below.
     Award for Excellence in Teaching
     Award for Excellence in Supervision
Award for a Program that Enhances Learning
Citation for an Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning

What is the selection process of the Education Committee?
The portfolios will firstly be considered against the selection criteria by a sub-committee of the Education Committee, who will then make a recommendation to the Education Committee. Winners of each of the awards along with other candidates can be put forward as part of the ANU Awards.

The committee will generally take into account:
     • the extent to which the claims are supported by formal and informal evaluation;
     • the extent of creativity, imagination or innovation, irrespective of whether the approach involves traditional learning environments or technology-based developments; and
     • the information contained in student evaluations, references and the description of teaching materials and activities submitted by the nominee. The Committee may contact nominees and/or referees for clarification or further information.
