Phillipa Weeks Scholarship in Law

The Phillipa Weeks Scholarship in Law (Ref:259/2007) was created in memory of Phillipa Christine Weeks who was a member of the academic staff of the ANU College of Law from 1979 until her death in 2006 at the age of 53. The Scholarship Fund was established from money donated by the University, the College, staff of the College, alumni, family and friends.

Alumni Appeal 2000 - Chair in Administrative Law:

Professor Robin Creyke has been appointed to the Alumni Chair in Administrative Law in October 2003.

Profile of Professor Robin Creyke:

Professor, Law School, The Australian National University, teaching in public law - both administrative and constitutional law. Robin is also a Member of the Administrative Review Council, a Special Counsel with Phillips Fox Lawyers, a Commissioner with the ACT's Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission and is one of two Vice-Presidents of the Australian Institute of Administrative Law. Robin has taught at the ANU for a number of years, specialising in public law topics. She has also undertaken empirical research, with Emeritus Professor Dennis Pearce and Professor John McMillan into the impact and outcomes of court and tribunal review on government. The results of that research are progressively being released. Robin is also an author of Laying Down the Law, the most widely used introductory law textbook, of Veterans' Entitlements Law (with Peter Sutherland) and has edited or written a number of other publications in administrative law, tribunals, guardianship and management of property law and on enduring powers of attorney.

Functions of the Chair:

The Chair will provide the focus for the continuation of the Faculty's distinguished reputation in Administrative Law and its leadership role in administrative law research and teaching.

Some of the Chairs' responsibilities over the following 5 years include:

  • co-ordinating research in administrative law
  • managing the postgraduate program in administrative law
  • teaching in the undergraduate program; and
  • providing a bridge between the Faculty, Government agencies, and practitioners in administrative law.
